Ghostly Lasagna

A festive and fun twist on the classic lasagna, packed with cheesy goodness and a spooky touch, perfect for Halloween family gatherings.

  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked until al dente
  • 2 cups marinara or tomato sauce
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage (or plant-based substitute)
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Ghost-shaped mozzarella slices (cut with cookie cutters)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat the olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef or sausage, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. In a baking dish, layer the noodles, meat sauce, ricotta, shredded mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Repeat until the dish is full.
  7. Top with extra sauce and the remaining mozzarella, placing the ghost-shaped mozzarella slices on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Feel free to add spinach or mushrooms for extra nutrition; use non-stick spray on foil to prevent sticking.
