  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Green and red sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
  • 1 tablespoon icing sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt.
  4. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
  5. Gather the dough into a rectangle, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and cut into Christmas tree strips.
  8. Place on prepared baking sheet, sprinkle with decorations if desired.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden on the edges.
  10. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with icing sugar if desired before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Can freeze for up to three months.
