Scale
  • 225 g Butter or baking spread (unsalted, softened)
  • 225 g Light brown soft sugar
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 75 ml Milk
  • 175 g Self-raising flour
  • 50 g Cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
  • 200 g Butter (unsalted, softened)
  • 325 g Icing sugar
  • 75 g Cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp Milk
  • 25 g Butter (unsalted, softened)
  • 50 g Icing sugar
  • 1/8 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp Milk
  • Green food coloring
  • 125 g Dark chocolate (melted)
  • 8 Biscoff biscuits
  • 25 g White candy melts (or white chocolate)
  • 200 g Chocolate fingers
  • 120 g Oreos (crushed into crumbs)
  • Jelly snakes (optional)
  • Fondant pumpkins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 160C Fan/180C/350F/Gas Mark 4. Grease and line a 12” x 9” traybake tin.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the baking spread and light brown sugar until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes with an electric mixer.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gently fold in the self-raising flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and bicarbonate of soda.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin, smoothing it out evenly.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.
  7. While the cake cools, make the biscuit graves by breaking a third off each Biscoff biscuit and dipping them in melted dark chocolate. Set them on baking paper to harden.
  8. For the icing, beat together the butter, icing sugar, cocoa powder, and milk until smooth. Adjust with more milk if needed.
  9. Spread the chocolate buttercream over the cooled cake with an angled palette knife and attach broken chocolate fingers around the cake’s edges.
  10. Top the cake with crushed Oreos to create a crumbly soil effect. Cut slits for the biscuit graves and push them in gently.
  11. Decorate with jelly snakes, fondant pumpkins, or your favorite spooky treats.
  12. Make green grass buttercream by mixing butter, icing sugar, vanilla, and green food coloring until smooth. Use a piping bag to create grass around the graves.
  13. Slice the cake into squares and serve.

Notes

Make sure your butter is soft for easier mixing. Feel free to get creative with your decorations and consider using store-bought frosting for convenience.
