Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef (leaner variety recommended)
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of choice)
4 hoagie rolls
Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add sliced onions and bell peppers, sauté for 3–5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add them after onion and peppers have softened, cooking for an additional 3 minutes.
Push the vegetables to the side, add ground beef, and cook until no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes.
Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, mixing for about 2 minutes.
Reduce heat, place cheese over the beef mixture, cover, and let cheese melt for 2–3 minutes.
Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise, spoon in the beef and vegetable mixture, and serve.
Optional: Toast the rolls before serving for extra crunch.
Notes
Serve with sides like sweet potato fries or coleslaw. Toasting the rolls prevents sogginess.
