Ultimate Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks

A satisfying blend of ground beef, melted cheese, and sautéed vegetables, perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (leaner variety recommended)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of choice)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, sauté for 3–5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add them after onion and peppers have softened, cooking for an additional 3 minutes.
  3. Push the vegetables to the side, add ground beef, and cook until no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, mixing for about 2 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat, place cheese over the beef mixture, cover, and let cheese melt for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise, spoon in the beef and vegetable mixture, and serve.
  7. Optional: Toast the rolls before serving for extra crunch.

Notes

Serve with sides like sweet potato fries or coleslaw. Toasting the rolls prevents sogginess.
