  • 12 ounces penne or rotini pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth

  • ¾ cup honey BBQ sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat until it shimmers. Add the diced onions and sauté until they are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned, approximately 5-6 minutes.
  3. Season the mixture with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and honey BBQ sauce until they are well combined.
  6. Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese while stirring, allowing it to melt until the sauce is creamy.

Avoid adding cream too quickly; it can curdle. Gradually stir it in when the sauce is well combined for a smoother texture.
