Description

Golden cheesy mashed potato puffs are a satisfying appetizer or side dish with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form a small amount of the mixture into a ball or patty. Roll each ball into breadcrumbs until well coated.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat or preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. If frying, place the puffs in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on all sides. If baking, place on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  5. Serve warm as an appetizer or side dish.

Notes

Use freshly made mashed potatoes for best results; adjust cheeses based on preference. Don’t overcrowd the frying pan to ensure even cooking.
