Description
A filling casserole made with layers of sliced potatoes, ground beef, and melted cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups sliced potatoes
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: garlic powder, paprika for seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Brown the ground beef and onions in a skillet over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink.
- Spread half of the sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish, then layer half of the beef mixture on top.
- Sprinkle a layer of cheese over the beef, then repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
- Mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a bowl, then pour it over the casserole.
- Season with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Notes
Consider cutting the potatoes evenly for uniform cooking and adding breadcrumbs mixed with extra cheese for a golden top. Let the casserole rest for about ten minutes before cutting.
