Description

A filling casserole made with layers of sliced potatoes, ground beef, and melted cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups sliced potatoes
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Brown the ground beef and onions in a skillet over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink.
  3. Spread half of the sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish, then layer half of the beef mixture on top.
  4. Sprinkle a layer of cheese over the beef, then repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
  5. Mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a bowl, then pour it over the casserole.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

Consider cutting the potatoes evenly for uniform cooking and adding breadcrumbs mixed with extra cheese for a golden top. Let the casserole rest for about ten minutes before cutting.
