- 2 pounds of potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of grated Gruyere cheese
- 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of butter, for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Combine heavy cream, milk, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl, creating a fragrant mixture.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, and sprinkle with half of the Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the layers, ensuring even distribution.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cheeses, and cream mixture.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Make sure to slice potatoes thinly for even cooking. Allowing the gratin to rest after baking helps in slicing.
