Ingredients

- 1 lb (500g) ground beef
- Salt (to taste)
- Ground black pepper (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup onion (diced)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 28 oz (800g) crushed tomatoes
- 2 1/3 cups chicken broth (or beef broth)
- 8 oz (230g) spaghetti
- 1 tablespoon parsley (chopped)
Instructions
- Season the ground beef with salt and ground black pepper, then set aside.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add olive oil until it shimmers.
- Sauté the onion until soft, then add garlic until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and stir continuously until browned.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, spaghetti, and parsley, pressing spaghetti down.
- Cover and cook for 14 minutes, checking for doneness after 10 minutes.
- If spaghetti is firm, add more broth and continue cooking until al dente.
- Serve topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Notes
Using fresh ingredients will improve the dish’s flavor. This recipe can be adapted for whole wheat spaghetti for added nutrition.
