Description
A creamy and flavorful one-pan dish made with orzo, chicken, and broccoli, topped with melted cheddar cheese.

- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- ½ medium onion (chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or thawed frozen)
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups cooked (shredded chicken, e.g., rotisserie)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (preferably sharp)
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until it turns translucent and fragrant.
- Cook broccoli florets for an additional 2 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and Italian seasoning along with the orzo, toasting for about 30 seconds.
- Pour in chicken broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- Cook uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring often.
- Add shredded chicken and stir to heat through for 2–3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and allow to sit for an additional 2–3 minutes to thicken slightly.
Notes
For best results, enjoy fresh as it doesn’t improve significantly after storage.
